Well-Being Spotlight
Partner Family Relationships
Building and maintaining healthy relationships, whether in our home or in our workplace, is something that must be fostered daily. The landscape of our relationships is ever changing with seasons of ups and downs along the way. Learning to navigate effective relationships requires an extensive toolbox which we can use to maintain healthy, supportive, and lasting relationships. Common relationship tools include good communication, respect for the other person, support, compromise, and honesty. (George Washington University, N.D.)
One way to foster a healthy relationship is to set goals for you and your partner and identify a plan for how you will both work to meet the goals. Your plan will include mapping areas of focus based on the individual needs of each relationship. Why is setting goals important to your plan for fostering a positive relationship? Goals inspire you as a couple to work together, foster honest communication, and create a path of growth that teaches us how to navigate during times of conflict or hardship. (Calm Blog, N.D)
I often visualize a partner relationship as a patio set including the umbrella. The legs of the table represent forgiveness, support, trust, and appreciation; the overshadowing umbrella is communication. This month’s EAP topic focuses on providing tools and support to start your journey of creating a stronger bond with your significant other. Below are trainings specific to building your relationship toolbox. Each one is recorded and can be accessed after the date listed by clicking the link at anytime in the future.
