Governor's Awards for Excellence in Performance
The Governor's Award for Excellence in Performance is a statewide award given to outstanding state employees each year.
During his first year in office, Governor Stan Stephens wanted to make Montanans aware of the dedication, professionalism and commitment that he had seen while meeting and working with state employees. Governor Stephens stated: "Whether you're in the private or public sector, people are an organization's most valuable resource. Nothing is accomplished without them."
The first Governor's Awards for Excellence in Performance ceremony was held in February of 1990.
